Tasting notes

The term ‘sour beer’ is generally used to describe beers with a tart, sour and sharp flavour. That tang comes from lactic acid, which is produced by lactic acid bacteria, such as Lactobacillus or Pediococcus, during fermentation. (Source: ‘La bière sure : une introduction’ on the Beau’s website)

Ginette is a gently tart beer with fruity flavours of pineapple and passion fruit, along with plenty of citrus, especially lemon and orange. It is very refreshing, and I can easily imagine drinking it in the middle of a heat wave. The finish is dry, with light grain notes lingering on the palate. A barely sweet lemonade for adults that goes down extraordinarily quickly!
