Robin Triple is a blend made from a golden beer aged for 16 months in barrels, to which cryo-extracted apple juice from Unifruits in Saint-Paul-d’Abbotsford and maple syrup from Shefford were added.
I’m taking advantage of some rather frustrating weather and the fatigue accumulated by work to treat myself and reconnect with my blog! This is the first time I’ve tasted a beer from Robin and I have to tell you that I kept it carefully in my fridge.
On the nose, the aromas of apples come first, followed by woody, earthy and funky aromas. We also feel a little sweet and floral side, a bit like honey.
The color is ocher with rusty and orange highlights and the small head of foam barely takes the time to greet us.
If the beginning of the sip is fruity and slightly sweet, the finish brings us more complexity with a tangy, woody and slightly astringent side. The beer is quite dry and we are left with rather wild notes on the palate.
Obviously, the juicy apple flavors are expressed wonderfully here and are well balanced by a floral bitterness and the sweet and coating aspect of the maple syrup.
The result is a complex and very well balanced beer which hits us quite well with its high alcohol content without it having an exaggerated presence in the taste. Just what I needed today, to be knocked out by a high quality product! 😉
