The big sister of our regular New England IPA, this beer is hopped with similar varieties, including Mosaic, Citra, El Dorado... and others.
On the nose:
The Métamorphe smells like cantaloupe, papaya and mango. It smells like tropical fruit salad with a light lemon scent.
Color:
The color and opacity are very similar. The Métamorphe is a notch more opaque and the color of the Tiberius is a notch more ocher. Very subtle here… 😉
I can’t wait to taste it!
Métamorphe is so juicy and fruity. Ripe and tropical fruits are there (melon, papaya, mango, orange, etc.). With the little honeyed side, it’s sublime! Barely lemony, it leaves plenty of room for fruit. We taste a hint of resinous bitterness on the finish and the texture has a slight tingling bite. The consistency is barely lighter than Tiberius. Plus, the residual sugar complements the fruity flavors perfectly. No surprise here but the alcohol is practically not felt (in the taste). Because these two pack a punch pretty quickly, my friends!
Simultaneous tasting – Métamorphe / Tiberius
These two beers are quite different but clearly the same style. Besides, I’m not sure that I gain anything by comparing these two beers, two gems in their own way!
I still give a slight advantage to the Métamorphe for its side of ripe fruit which I love but I would say that the Tiberius is probably more complex. Here, it’s only a question of personal taste… Two very great beers!
