This tripel is a treasure worthy of the finest Sauternes. Its golden robe crowned with foam is well worth a long confinement in the depths of a barrel. After all, to keep a healthy glow, one must drink well!
Strong golden ales have always appealed to me. Whether it’s abbey beers or La Fin du Monde, a part of my journey into beer started there… 🙂
In my opinion, it is unfortunately an under-exploited style in Quebec. It must be said that my standards are always very high. Every time I see a blonde with an ABV above 8 or 9% and some special characteristics like barrel aging, my eyes light up! A strong golden ale can taste like something other than banana… 😉
Time for tasting….
The color is ocher and golden with beautiful copper highlights. The magnificent head stays in the glass for a long time and invites you to take another sip.
On the nose, it smells of raisins, wood and honey, enhanced with sweet floral scents.
The texture is round and slightly sparkling. The fruity taste stands out for its complexity (cooked apples, raisins, apricots, green grapes). The beer is slightly spicy, reminiscent of nutmeg or cinnamon. A floral and subtly roasted bitterness accompanies us throughout the sip, always remaining in balance with the other flavors.
In addition to the woody notes, the tastes of soft biscuits and honey make this beer simply sublime!
The balance of flavors is quite remarkable. This is a very nice product! It compares very well with the best Belgian beers.
