A dry stout... imperial?! Aged in Kräuterlikör barrels?! Gawdamm! Avant-Garde, you have wowed our taste buds with this exceptional beer. A great work! —The New York Times
What happens when a smooth aroma of camphor-like herbs mingles with complex, lightly smoky roasted notes? Another phenomenal beer from Avant-Garde Artisans Brasseurs. Incredible. —The Wall Street Journal
Wow. —The Chicago Tribune
My God, it’s good and different!
It tastes of herbs, dark chocolate, molasses and smoke. It’s as complex as possible! Additionally, the finish is dry, which is rather unusual for this type of barrel-aged stout.
While being airy, this nectar invites you to look at the starry sky and melt into the arms of Morpheus.
Flavours of roasted grain and coffee accompany us throughout our sip. The texture is slightly oily and fades like a light chilly breeze on a summer evening. This beer reminds me of the end of the evening and the glowing remnants of a fire.
A little gem!
It also reminds me of the brownie that was slightly overcooked. Despite all the character of this beer, it is drunk so gently that it invites us to tranquility.
The woody side, accentuated by the herbal flavors and the peaty taste, envelops us with an extraordinary subtlety and an unparalleled complexity. I feel like I’m somewhere else!
These days I’m looking for different experiences and this beer fits that bill perfectly! I close my eyes and go to distant lands. Cheers!
