Hops: BRU-1, Vic Secret, Simcoe and Nugget.
During our last vacation, after having spent a pleasant time at our friends’ chalet near Frelighsburg, we went for a beer at the Knowlton microbrewery. It was the first time I went there and also the first time I tasted their beers.
The brewery building is beautiful and the outdoor terrace is really nice! I had the opportunity to drink a few beers there and buy others in cans.
I fell in love, not only with the environment but also with the beers they brew. In that regard, they are quite unique and a bit against the grain of what is popular at the moment. All the ones I have tasted are made with a rich and creamy cereal base. It’s honestly refreshing! In addition, the humorous design of their cans is frankly original.
I recently managed to obtain some others and this will be the subject of my tasting today.
Make way for the Juicy IPA Double.
On the nose, it smells of ripe fruit, citrus and brown sugar.
On the palate, it’s creamy with caramelized, tropical fruit and citrus flavors. The malt character is prominent and is complemented by a bitterness of toasted bread.
The fruity flavors of papaya, pineapple and melon are complemented by predominant tastes of lemon and orange. This leans more towards an old-school IPA, but with a more modern hoppy and fruity side.
The finish leaves us with a good resinous bitterness on the tongue and a taste of lightly toasted brioche bread.
Definitely a pleasant beer to drink. I highly recommend the beers from the Knowlton microbrewery if you don’t know them yet. Cheers!
