Tasting notes

A blend of three types of smoked beer, aged for 3, 6 and 9 months respectively in oak barrels with our flora of wild yeasts and lactic acid bacteria. Strawberries, blackberries and blueberries were then added to the blend, revealing a surprising fruity dimension within the smoke. Oak, beechwood and Scottish peat provide complexity while keeping the smoke level balanced.

Dark brown color with a thin ring of foam that doesn’t seem to want to disappear. On the edge of the glass, the accumulation of bubbles forms a honeycomb-like pattern.

Opaque as a moonless night, darkness reigns in this glass.

On the nose, the scent of smoke is dominant, like a sea wind blowing over the dying embers of a fire, in the darkness of a starry sky. I also smell blueberry jam and forest scents after the evening dew.

On the palate, we taste the fruity and tangy flavors first. The blueberry really stands out! A ripe blueberry, accompanied by an acidity that normally appears with berries. There is also a slightly burnt pie crust taste. The illusion of dessert is perfect without the overly sweet aspect!

Subsequently, the woody side immediately takes over, followed by a smoky and peaty taste. We are here in the subtleties, beautifully balanced. In the finish, the wild notes pleasantly close the experience.

Remember that this beer only contains 4.7% alcohol, hence the slightly watery texture. The effervescence always enhances the tasting experience and slightly tingles the tongue.

I have a strong tendency to like beers with a high alcohol content, so when I have the chance to drink a beer of this quality and complexity at less than 5% alcohol, I cannot help but be immensely seduced!
